Hi,
I am a UK citizen, white (or at least light brown) and was brought up C of E
although I am not actively religious. This is just to put my query into
context, as I presume the answers may be dependant on skin colour and racial
and religious origins.
I have been offered the opportunity to work in Kuwait for a six month term,
starting some time Q1 2003.
The job is still provisional (various interviews etc. to go through) but I
thought it wise to ask for advice about the current conditions for UK
citizens working and living in Kuwait.
I have heard that there has been a rise in the violent kind of Islamic
fundamentalism in recent years, and wondered if UK citizens were potential
targets.
I am also keenly aware that the governments of the UK and US are still
squaring up to Iraq, which is next door. Does this have an impact on
personal safet in Kuwait?
I have loads more questions, but I thought i would deal with the big ones
first.
If the country is safe to work in, then issues such as accomodation,
driving, tax etc. will be next in line.
Thanks in advance
David Roberts
