This is just to put my query into context, as I presume the answers may be dependant on skin colour and racial and religious origins. I have been offered the opportunity to work in Kuwait for a six month term, starting some time Q1 2003. The job is still provisional (various interviews etc. to go through) but I thought it wise to ask for advice about the current conditions for UK citizens working and living in Kuwait. I have heard that there has been a rise in the violent kind of Islamic fundamentalism in recent years, and wondered if UK citizens were potential targets. I am also keenly aware that the governments of the UK and US are still squaring up to Iraq, which is next door. Does this have an impact on personal safet in Kuwait? I have loads more questions, but I thought i would deal with the big ones first. If the country is safe to work in, then issues such as accomodation, driving, tax etc. will be next in line. Thanks in advance David Roberts -- From kuwait_list_response at talk21.com Wed Dec 4 05:37:00 2002 From: kuwait_list_response at talk21.com (David W.E. The unmoderated NG seems to be just general religious cross postings and notification of news items from some American library. No discussion of culture or Kuwait. Nothing at all apart from posting guidelines on this one. Is this NG redundant? Probably why this group was created originally. > Nothing at all apart from posting guidelines on this one. Is this NG > redundant? This group was dead for a few years before I revived it last spring, but it hasn't really caught on yet. What it really needs is a "champion" or two to promote it and bring the readers and posters in. I'm just the technical guy that makes sure it's working. Brian. Some guy called Chief Wilson Mbami (Mtotally Mbami?) who needs my help to transfer millions of dollars out of South Africa. I think my tenure of this list may be as short as the life of the email account I set up for the list. Grump. If you check the registration documentation that you were sent, you'll see there are a couple different supported options for spam blocking that will still allow you to receive responses from the moderation software. I definitely recommend using one of them if you do not have any better spam blocking technology on your account. Since I implemented Bayesian filtering I rarely see any of the many (at least a dozen) Nigerian 419 scam emails that my various addresses receive every day. Brian.
