Increasing the number of processor cores rather than clock rate can give better performance and reduce problems like energy consumption, heat dissipation and design complexity. As a result we are now witnessing the emergence of multi-core processors in all markets from laptops and game consoles to servers and supercomputers. However, also from the software development perspective exploiting the full potential of multi-core computing systems is a highly complex and essentially open domain, at the moment forcing application developers to deal with numerous low-level details. Major research efforts are required to streamline the process of software development for multi-core computing systems. Topics of Interest ------------------ - The topics of the workshop include but are not limited to: :: homogenous and heterogeneous multi-core architectures :: accelerated multi-core architectures :: interconnection networks :: multi-core embedded systems :: programming languages and models :: algorithms for multi-core computing systems :: applications for multi-core systems :: performance modeling and evaluation of multi-core systems :: simulation of multi-core systems :: design space exploration :: resource usage optimization :: tool-support for multi-core systems :: compilers, runtime and operating systems Submission Guidelines --------------------- - The papers should be prepared using the IEEE CS format, and no longer than 6 pages. Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance to workshop topics, technical soundness, and presentation quality. - Submission of the paper implies that should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and present the paper at the workshop. Proceedings of the workshop will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press. The best papers presented at the workshop will be selected for publication in an international journal. - The papers should be submitted electronically via CISIS 2010 website. Important Dates --------------- - Submission: September 14, 2009 - Notification: November 01, 2009 - Final version of the paper: November 14, 2009 - Workshop: February 15, 2010 Workshop Co-chairs ------------------ - Leonard Barolli, Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Japan - Sabri Pllana, University of Vienna, Austria - Fatos Xhafa, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain From pllana at par.univie.ac.at Mon Aug 24 05:24:49 2009 From: pllana at par.univie.ac.at (Sabri Pllana) Date: Mon Aug 24 05:24:51 2009 Subject: CfP: DEVS Integrative Modeling and Simulation Symposium (DEVS 2010) Message-ID: <4a925c18$0$11094$3b214f66@usenet.univie.ac.at> CALL FOR PAPERS Symposium on Theory of Modeling and Simulation - DEVS Integrative M&S Symposium (DEVS 2010) April 12-15 2010. Florida Mall Hotel and Conference Center. Orlando, FL. http://www.sce.carleton.ca/faculty/wainer/DEVS10 Sponsored by The Society for Modeling and Simulation International in cooperation with ACM/SIGSIM The purpose of this symposium is to provide a forum to discuss most recent advancements in Theory of Modeling and Simulation. The main focus is on theory of modeling, methodology, practice and toolkits, as well as lessons learned and challenges. The Symposium will focus on bridging different areas in the Theory of Modeling and Simulation, including formal modeling, model-checking, graph transformation, modeling methodologies and tools. It also provides an opportunity to exchange ideas with other SpringSim'10 symposia participants in different fields, including tracks co-located with the Symposium on High Performance Computer Simulation. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following: * Theory o DEVS modeling methodology o Hybrid system modeling & integration of formalisms o Formal analysis and symbolic reasoning o Model Checking o Graph Transformations o Activity paradigm: Complex adaptive systems, tracking, awareness * Methodology o Parallel & distributed simulators and simulations o Interoperability of simulators (grid, web services, etc.) o M&S Engineering o M&S-Based development methods * Practice and Lessons Learned o Military systems and infrastructures o Real-time and embedded systems o High performance computing o Software-intensive/networked systems o Transportation and traffic systems o Ecological and environmental systems o Standards * Toolkits and environments o Tools and libraries (DEVS, PN, Timed Automata, etc.) o Education aspects of Theory of Modeling and Simulation All papers will be included in the conference proceedings and archived in both the the ACM Digital Library; Full Papers will be also printed in hard copy. Important Dates =============== Paper Submission: 15 Oct 2009 Notification: 15 Nov 2009 Final Paper: 2 Feb 2009 Submission Procedures ===================== The conference committee will accept three types of papers submitted as a PDF file to the conference website (http://www.scs.org/springsim/submission) as listed below. Final version of all the papers must comply with the SCS conference format. All the submitted papers should be original and not have been submitted to other venues; they will be peer reviewed with respect to their quality, originality and relevance. The authors of the accepted paper must register in advance for inclusion of their paper in the conference proceedings. The authors of the accepted paper must register in advance for inclusion of their paper in the conference proceedings. 1. Full manuscript: 8 pages in final conference format. In addition to publication in the conference proceedings, they will be considered for best paper award and for possible inclusion in a Special Issue of the Simulation Journal (SCS). Full papers will be published both in hard copy and CD-ROM. 2. Work in Progress: Short papers up to 6 pages in final conference format. 3. Short Papers: Papers with industrial focus, military or government applications, and work-in-progress in abstract or short paper format.
